দ্বাদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে সারাদেশে আওয়ামী লীগের অনেক নেতা 'বিদ্রোহী' প্রার্থী হতে পারেন। স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী হিসেবে তাদের প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতায় দল খুব একটা কঠোর হবে না বলে মনে করছেন আওয়ামী লীগের অনেক নেতা।

বিএনপি নির্বাচনে আসবে না বলে ধরে নিয়ে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতাপূর্ণ নির্বাচন দেখানোর চেষ্টা করছে ক্ষমতাসীন দল। প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা ছাড়া কেউ জয়ী হতে পারবে না বলে দলের শীর্ষ পর্যায় থেকেও বার্তা রয়েছে।

কিন্তু আওয়ামী লীগ দলীয় মনোনীত প্রার্থীর বিপরীতে বিদ্রোহীকে প্রকাশ্যে সমর্থন করতে পারে না। তবে দলটির এক কেন্দ্রীয় নেতা বলেন, এবার বিদ্রোহীদের ব্যাপারে শিথিলতা দেখানো হতে পারে।

আওয়ামী লীগের নীতিনির্ধারণী সূত্রে জানা গেছে, দলীয় সিদ্ধান্ত অমান্য করে কেউ স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী হলে তাকে দল থেকে বহিষ্কারের বিষয়টি গঠনতন্ত্রে উল্লেখ রয়েছে। ফলে দলের কোনো কর্মকর্তা বিদ্রোহী প্রার্থী হলে তাকে সাময়িক বহিষ্কার করা হবে। তবে এবার কিছু ব্যতিক্রম ছাড়া বিদ্রোহীদের সরাতে বাড়তি কোনো চেষ্টা করা হবে না। এ ছাড়া বিএনপি বা অন্য কোনো দল থেকে কেউ স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী হতে চাইলে তাকে স্বাগত জানানো হবে।
