Third-Party Candidates' Impact on 2024 Presidential Race
In a significant shift within the presidential race, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., the former independent candidate, has suspended his bid and endorsed Donald Trump. This move may influence the dynamics in key battleground states.
Current polling shows Kennedy at 3% support in Michigan and just 1% in Wisconsin. Notably, Michigan exhibits the highest overall backing for third-party candidates, with 6% of likely voters favoring options beyond Kamala Harris and Trump. However, enthusiasm for independent candidates wanes among the most motivated voters, where Harris leads Trump 51% to 45% in Michigan and 52% to 47% in Wisconsin.
The latest CNN polling mirrors earlier results, revealing Harris ahead with 50% to Trump's 44% in Wisconsin and 48% to 43% in Michigan. In Pennsylvania, the candidates are virtually tied at 50% for Harris and 47% for Trump.
As Election Day approaches, the majority of voters in these critical blue wall states have solidified their preferences, with only 8% in Pennsylvania, 7% in Michigan, and 6% in Wisconsin remaining undecided or open to changing their votes.
